Guernsey has filter-in-turn at some junctions. It also has ruettes tranquilles, where the speed limit is 15mph, and pedestrians, horse-riders and cyclists have priority over vehicles. So it was a surprise to see quite a number of traffic lights in the main town of St Peter Port.
You see lights causing the came needless delay, added air pollution, conflicting speeds and conflicting needs that you see on the mainland. Why isn’t filter-in-turn used across the whole island? A mystery. It wouldn’t take a lot to enable it. It would cleanse the air and eliminate stress and delay.
